Our City is blessed to have an amazing $28 million legacy and a huge opportunity thanks to the great work done by our former Mayor Colin Kinsley on the Terasen Gas deal. If you include the reserve funds we have for community restart, capital reserve and facility reserve that comes to almost $50 million. The opportunity comes with the demolition of the Four seasons Pool and the old Fire Hall #1. This space next to the Civic Centre gives our next Mayor and Council a once in a generation opportunity to provide a significant Legacy for our community!
Sensible Solutions:
Engage with business as well as the sports and arts community to come up with a joint vision for this space that could include the replacement of the Coliseum, the PG Playhouse, and Studio 2880
Worth the Provincial and Federal government to secure matching funds
Let’s ensure that this money isn’t blown on operations and is instead used to build something our community will be proud of and use for decades to come
Conventions bring people from out of town with the economic benefits rippling throughout our city.
